No more little girls [Wenatchee children's photography]

We see our kids everyday. The changes are so subtle that they seem to sneak up on us. A tilt of the head, a roll of the eyes and suddenly the baby is gone and standing in her place is someone acting a whole lot like a teenager. My 12 isn't a teen yet, just barely turned 12, but has appeared to turn that corner. While we were on vacation last week, 17 asked 12 if she could straighten her hair. 12's big, unruly hair has always been our battleground, with her unwilling to keep it brushed and equally resistant to letting me do it. But all it took was big sister's interest in making it pretty and suddenly it seemed she grew up in an instant. Last night, as DJ and I were laying in bed rehashing our days, he made the comment that he has "no more little girls" and it sounded as much sad as it did wistful. Nope, no more little girls. :(

Wenatchee senior portraits

As promised, a few more images from the ultra-photogenic and ultra-talented Keelin. A little bird (Facebook) told me she has an interview with Brooks in California for video-making. Good luck Keelin!

I heart faces: Pink

This week’s theme at I heart Faces is in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Many of us have been touched by this disease and it's important to remind everyone what month it is and encourage women to get a mammogram.

Wenatchee volleyball calendar girls

Recently I had a fun afternoon with 10 gorgeous volleyball players. Talk about setting yourself up for low self-esteem! I got to shoot the Wenatchee Valley Knights women's volleyball team for a little fundraising project we're working on. Not sports shots, but more personality portraits to match the month they will be in a calendar. We're making a calendar for the team to sell as part of their fundraiser for a community service and volleyball event trip to Nicaragua in February. These girls are so great, they have a huge emphasis on community service, equal to their drive to win. They all maintain great GPA's, practice 5 days a week and are there for each other through thick and thin. It was awesome getting to spend a little time off the court with each of them. I'll post when and where the calendars are available as well, it's a worthwhile cause for a group of deserving, hard-working young women.

Wenatchee Valley Knights volleyball photography

It didn't get off to a great start. Walla Walla took the first two games making for a long road to the win. But the Knights did just that, upping their game and taking the next three for the match win. These girls always play better under pressure and it's exciting to see them determine to win, get focused and be tough. (Don't quote me) but I believe this makes their record 21-3. Pretty impressive for such a young program. Go Knights!
