I love that shade of red on you

Shade of red a.jpg

Overheard

"I LOVE that shade of red on you!" is something I overhear among women all the time! I can't wear lipstick, I have really small lips and it just looks weird. But I think I buy my bodyweight in lip balm!

5 mediums, 6 ways = 30 projects in November [Wenatchee photography + design]

Project 18 (photo): I had a family photo session on Sunday. While I may not normally count this as a "Project" I am this time, because, well, I got injured, and didn't have time to do anything else. THat's also why I'm a day late posting. Yours truly took a full-on fall to her knees, then shoulder, then ending in an embarrassing turtle-on-its-back pose on the wet, dirty gravel. I was also carrying all my gear (camera, monopod, bag of lenses) and had the instinct to cradle my camera and keep it from breaking. My knees that night were the size of cut-in-half softballs and were bloodied and hurting. The swelling has gone down some, but they still aren't as bendy as they should be. I was thankful that I've known this family for years so it wasn't QUITE as embarrassing as it could have been if I'd just been meeting them. Anyway, totally worth it as I got to spend time with them and got some really nice family portraits of a really beautiful family. Win-win!

Twenty-one years

This pretty amazing person is turning 21 today. For real, twenty-one YEARS have passed in the blink of an eye. I say something along those lines every year, but 21? Really? I know my world was significantly made an infinite amount more awesome, more incredible, more MORE, when she came into the world and I know the world is a better place because she's in it. How could it not be? I could just say how beautiful she is, but that's obvious just be looking at her, and not even the important bit. What's awesome is she is determined, courageous, smart, funny, sarcastic, sassy, talented, strong, creative, talented, opinionated, stubborn, shy, helpful, compassionate, loyal and just plain ridiculously wonderful. That's her. All 21 years of her! I love you baby girl.

Model material :) [Wenatchee photography + design]

A few more images of my daughter. I mentioned earlier she is thinking of modeling. She has the height and is interested in the fashion industry. She recently entered a contest where she had to make a fashion related video for JCPenny and Seventeen magazine. The top 10 videos were chosen by Seventeen and then voted on by the public. She was one of the top ten picked and then ended up 6th and won an iPad. She was pretty happy, to say the least. Next, she entered the "E! Live from the Red Carpet with Adrianna Papell" contest where she had to design a red-carpet dress and, again, the top entries were chosen and will be voted on. She was one of the chosen entries so that voting window begins Monday on Facebook. If chosen her dress will actually be made and worn.

Anyway, all that background to say I am proud of her for continuing to do what she can to further her interest, even when she doesn't always have the same opportunities as others may have (because we don't live in a metropolitan area). She does what she can, when she can, and has never given up on continuing her interests.

We've been working on a portfolio over the summer and had another shoot last weekend. These are a few of those shots.
